Compost and Decomposition Bonanza

Saturday, May 17. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .1-2:30 pm

Join Naturalist Eve Tomczak to explore the less discussed realm of cool critters that help us "break it down" - Life as we know it would be impossible without these tiny invertebrates! Includes an activity to show everyone how long it really takes for everyday items like plastic bottles to break down in the environment. You will also get to visit TNC's very own Wildlife Habitat and composting bin after learning about what compost is, what it isn't, who the critters that "break it down" are and how they do it. The program will end with how YOU can make a difference and compost at home!

Pre-registration required.

The Nature Program Cooperative
Click here for the NPC website.

Did you know there are over a dozen places and organizations in Bergen County alone that provide quality nature programs? Recently, they created the NPC – a pooling of knowledge and resources designed to offer the people of our region greater opportunities to explore and enjoy the County’s natural side.

Current Nature Program Cooperative partners include:

Bergen County Audubon Society
Bergen SWAN
Demarest Nature Center
Flat Rock Brook Nature Center
The Fyke Nature Association
Greenbrook Sanctuary
Hackensack Riverkeeper

Lorrimer Sanctuary (NJ Audubon)Meadowlands Environment Center (NJMC)
Palisades Interstate Park Commission
Teaneck Creek Conservancy
Tenafly Nature Center

Watershed Ambassadors (NJDEP)

Weis Ecology Center
(NJ Audubon)

Throughout the year, different partners of the Co-op will host an outdoor activity or indoor educational program at a nature center or other appropriate location to which all group members are invited. When applicable, member discounts will apply to all Co-op partner members and supporters. For example, when Tenafly Nature Center hosts an event, members of all other groups pay the TNC member rate. Non-members are also welcome to attend.  All events will be advertised in each group’s newsletter.

Welcome to the Co-op.
