Programs & Field Trips

Our professional environmental educators are available for questions from the community and offer a wide variety of programming to over 1100 groups of area families, adults, children, and scouts each year. With their boundless curiosity, they touch, observe and listen to the natural world.

Our programs are designed for all ages and are available every day throughout the year.  Programs are designed for groups that range in size but space is limited and reservations are required.

Programs for individuals and families

  • Public Programs
     Seasonal environmental based programs for Adults Families and Children of all ages

  • After school Programs
    Students in Pre k -5th grade can extend their day of learning during some of the seasonal after school programs.

  • Summer Nature Day Camp
    Pre k - 8th Graders explore the wonders of the natural world in one week sessions from July through August.

  • CIT Program
    Students aged 14 -18 years old can volunteer as a Counselor-In-Training (CIT). 
 

Programs for groups

  • Field Trips (at the Tenafly Nature Center):
    Plan a field trip to the Tenafly Nature Center.  Our programs are designed to enhance and integrate your school's curriculum by providing hands-on, environmental experiences. All our lessons address the NJCCCS.

  • Outreach Programs (at your location)
    Bring the excitement of the Nature Center to your classroom!  We can bring live animals, demonstrations, and fun activities to either a classroom or assembly setting.  Our outreach programs are custom designed to address the NJCCCS and meet your students needs.  Pair an outreach program with a field trip to TNC for even more fun and learning.

  • Professional Development
    Have fun with fellow educators while earning     professional development credit.  Tenafly Nature Center is a registered New Jersey professional development provider.

  • Home School Programs
    Join our     professional environmental educators as we introduce your home schooled children to ecological and biological principals while gaining an appreciation and understanding of the natural world.  Your child will become more familiar with the plants and animals throughout New Jersey and discover how human activities affect the environment.

  • Scout Programs
     Earn a badge or patch; or participate in one of our several other environmental programs designed for a great scouting experience. From campfires and night hikes to compass work and wilderness survival.

  • Birthday Parties
    Create a birthday party experience your child will never forget!     Educational and fun for children ages 3 to 13 years old.

Self Guided Groups
Tenafly Nature Center is open and available to all visitors. If you are unable to schedule a program with one of our educators you are more than welcome to bring your group up here on your own.  Due to conflicting programming certain areas of the park may be off limits .
