Welcome
to
The Tenafly
Nature Center
Dedicated
to preservation and education,
the Tenafly Nature Center Association is a
private non-profit,
member-supported organization
committed to the environment.
The Association is located on and acts as steward to an almost 400-acre preserve, which includes more than seven miles of trails, streams, and a 3-acre Pfister's Pond, abundant with wildlife. Maintained mostly by volunteers, it is a place to relax and study the flora and fauna who call these habitats "home".
When trails are open we welcome visitors to hike, bird-watch, observe wildlife, cross-country ski, snow-shoe and ice skate on Pfister's Pond.
Tenafly Nature Center is a sanctuary for human visitors - an island of green where bonds with nature can be renewed. Whether you have an hour or a day, our woods offer a peaceful respite from the rush of daily life.

Visitors Center (John A. Redfield Building):
v
Inside
the interpretive building you can browse natural history
exhibits, see live animals, and find information in the Stephen
Minkoff Memorial
Library.
Our professional educators are available for questions from the community. They also offer a wide variety of programming intended for organized groups such as schools, scouts and birthday parties. More than 400 groups of area children and scouts come to the Tenafly Nature Center each year. With their boundless curiosity, they touch, observe and listen to the natural world.
We also offer public programming for families, adults, and children of all ages, of which our after-school programs, Summer Nature Day Camp, and natural history field trips are included.
Red fox, white-tailed deer and countless chipmunks find refuge in our woodland. More than fifty kinds of birds nest here, filing the trees with sound and movement. The strategic location of our large undeveloped acreage along the Atlantic Flyway provides a welcome stopover for a hundred more bird species during their spring and fall migrations. Nearly a third of NJ's frog, toad, salamander and harmless snake species can be found within our boarders. The diversity of plants and wildlife will delight the patient observer.
