From Bergenfield Armory (Teaneck Road):

• At the traffic light turn East onto Liberty Road, the armory will be on your right after you turn.

• Turn left onto Ivy Lane.

• At the first traffic light, turn left onto Knickerbocker Road.

• Second traffic light, turn right onto Riveredge Road.

• Go through Tenafly, cross the railroad tracks and continue to the “T”.  You’ll see D&C Chevrolet/Honda.

• Turn left onto County Road.

• Second traffic light turn right onto Hudson Avenue.

• Go to the top of the hill and enter the driveway to the nature center parking area.

The Monument at Knickerbocker and Madison in Cresskill:

• Take Madison Avenue East.

• Cross railroad tracks and make an immediately right onto Piermont Road

• Go ~1/2 mile

• Turn left onto Hudson Avenue

• Go to the top of the hill and enter the driveway to the nature center parking area.

From I-95 or I-80:

• Follow Route I-95 (NJ Turnpike) North of I-80 East, towards New York City. Follow the local lanes,

• "Last Exit in NJ". The 2 interstates merge.

• Take EXIT 71, signed for Broad Avenue, Englewood/Leonia.

• From the exit ramp, bear right onto Broad Avenue.

• Go through the first traffic light, under an overpass

• Turn left at the 2nd traffic light onto Van Nostrand Avenue.

• Turn right at the next traffic light onto Grand Avenue in Englewood.

• This becomes Engle Street in Tenafly.

• Stay on this road until it ends at a "T" (about 4 miles from Rt. 4).

• Turn right onto Hudson Avenue. Go to the top of the hill and enter the driveway to the parking area.

If you miss EXIT 71, don't panic!
Continue east on I-80/95, and take EXIT 72, signed for Routes 9W, 1, 9, 47; "No re-entry to bridge"; there's a traffic light immediately off the exit; turn left and follow the signs for Route 9W, northbound. From Route 9W (Sylvan Avenue), turn left at the traffic light for East Clinton Avenue/ Tenafly. Go about 1 mile, and turn right at the next traffic light, which is Engle Street. Proceed as above.

From Route 4:

• Take the Grand Avenue/Englewood Exit, follow signs for county road 501 North.

• Pass the Englewood Hospital. Grand Avenue becomes Engle Street;

• Stay on this road until it ends at a "T" (about 4 miles from Rt. 4).

• Turn right onto Hudson Avenue.

• Go to the top of the hill and enter the driveway to the Tenafly Nature Center parking area.

From the Tappan Zee Bridge:

• From New York State Thruway (I-87/287), take Exit 13S for the southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway

• Follow the Palisades Interstate Parkway/South

• Take the Rt. 9W exit- EXIT 2- toward ALPINE / CLOSTER

• Turn LEFT onto US-9W

• At a traffic light turn right onto East Clinton Avenue.

• At the next traffic light, turn right onto Engle Street.

• Stay on this road until it ends it ends at a "T".

• Turn right onto Hudson Avenue.

• Go to the top of the hill and enter the driveway to the nature center parking area.

From the George Washington Bridge:

• Follow the signs for the Palisades Interstate Parkway/North.

• Take Exit 1, Palisades Avenue/Englewood.

• Turn right at the traffic light onto Route 9W (Sylvan Avenue) North.

• At a traffic light turn left onto East Clinton Avenue.

• At the next traffic light, turn right onto Engle Street.

• Stay on this road until it ends it ends at a "T".

• Turn right onto Hudson Avenue.

• Go to the top of the hill and enter the driveway to the Tenafly Nature Center parking area.

Arrive by Public Transportation

By Bus: There are no busses that operate within walking distance to the park entrance located at 313 Hudson Ave.

However, the Rockland Coaches Inc. bus operates the Route 9, 9A, 9T, and 9TA bus, which travels along U.S. Route 9W. This provides access to many of the trails in the Lost Brook Preserve. Click here for further information.

These busses can be reached from New York City, Rockland County and points in New Jersey. Rockland Coaches Number 9 bus, departs from Port Authority’s George Washington Bridge Terminal (located at 175th Street, and accessible from the A express subway line) or from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (located at 42nd Street). The Number 9 bus stops at Bridge Plaza in Fort Lee (where a number of other bus lines connect at the Bridge Plaza stop from points in New Jersey), then travels up U.S. Route 9W to Rockland County.
