Sponsor a Species

New Jersey is the most densely populated state in America, so education is a key component in the protection of our state's natural element. Our educational programs for schools, scouts, and people of all ages are presented throughout New Jersey to over 23,000 people each year.

While we are not a zoo we do house a small collection of animals that cannot be released into the wild for a variety of reasons. Instead these animals are utilized to help educate visitors of all ages about the needs of our local wildlife and the importance of protecting their habitats. These education animals are native or related to local species found throughout New Jersey. Learn more about our animals by visiting our Animal Ambassadors page.

Help us care for these amazing animals by aiding in the cost of their upkeep. Your contribution assists the center in providing food, improving enclosures, necessary medical care, and supporting staff time for their care.

In addition to the satisfaction of supporting an animal's life you will receive:

  • 2 complimentary passes to one of TNC's seasonal family programs (series & camps not included)
  • Animal sponsorship certificate
  • A photograph of your sponsored animal(s)
  • Recognition in our quarterly Tenafly Nature Center NEWS
  • Your sponsored animal's personal biography
  • A brief overview of the animal's Natural History

Birthday Party Special:

In addition to the basic sponsorship package you will receive a visit from your sponsored animal at your child's next Nature Center Birthday Party.

Organized Group Special: (schools, scouts)

In addition to the basic sponsorship package you will receive a visit from your sponsored animal at your next scheduled program.  Students can also include any letters with any questions that they might have about their animal.
