Water -- we take it for granted all too often. Come spend the week learning about why water is a valuable resource. How much water do you use in a day? How much water does a person need to survive? What do people do for water in the desert? We all need water, and not just people! Plants and animals need water as well. We will investigate the competing uses for water in the 21st century.

This week-long 1st-3rd camp session runs from August 24-28, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm daily.

Sometimes you've got to get your hands in the muck to be a lucky duck! Our lucky duck campers will come face to beak with the resident ducks of Pfister's Pond. Like field scientists, we'll get hands-on experience with the pond's many inhabitants (such as tadpoles and dragonfly larvae) as we “pour” over pond ecology and habitats within the pond. Ponds will be compared to other ecosystems, as well as to other bodies of water, for full immersion!

Activities will involve looking at how plants produce food for themselves, the purpose of flowers, and planting for tomorrow.

Experience a guided 2-hour walk (1½ miles) along the trails by the light of the full moon. Participants will stop for a rest at the crossroads of the Purple and Allison Trail. This tranquil, meditative hike encourages reflection and connection with nature, allowing hikers to experience the trails after dark. Recommended for adults.

Pre-registration required. Please bring a flashlight. In case of inclement weather the program will be postponed to the following month.
