Scout Program Overview
Over 1100 groups of area children and scouts come to the Tenafly Nature Center each year. With their boundless curiosity, they touch, observe and listen to the natural world.
Join our professional Environmental Educators as we introduce your scouts to ecological and biological principals and cultivate an appreciation and understanding of the natural world. Boy and Girl Scouts will become more familiar with plants and animals throughout New Jersey and discover how human activities affect the environment. Scouts can earn an award or badge and have fun during our hands-on environmental education programs after school or on the weekend.
Boy Scout Programs
We can help your Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Boy Scout earn nature or environmental science badges. Through hands-on activities, games, and hikes through the woods, your scouts won't realize that they're learning! All programs are marked with the season(s) they are best done in. Most programs average 1.5 hours, but check the program you’re interested in for the specific length.
Girl Scout Programs
We can help your Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette Girl Scout earn nature or environmental science badges. Through hands-on activities, games, and hikes through the woods, your girl scouts won't realize that they're learning!
All programs are marked with the season(s) they are best done in, as well as the amount of time they take.
Scout Outings
Make your next outing a natural experience! Scouts can learn how to make maple syrup, apple cider, review their map and compass skills, or experience the forest in the dark--if you dare!
Service Projects
Keep the Tenafly Nature Center in mind for your Eagle Scout Project or Girl Scout Gold Award! Past projects have included removal of alien invasive plants, trail maintenance, removal of overgrown plants in Pfister's Pond, as well as fence/bridge building and repair.
