After School Series
Youth Programs
The following programs are specially developed for students aged 4 to 12 years old who like to learn about the wonders of the natural world. Professional environmental educators will guide your child both outside along the trails and indoors in the Education Pavilion and Redfield Building. Learn about the animals of New Jersey, create natural art projects, discover what our backyards have to offer.

During the four-week series of one-hour
programs, students learn through hands-on experiences, games, crafts, and stories. Topics
vary seasonally and with the students' interests.
Space is limited.

Weekly Topics
Spring 2008
A day a specific lesson is given may change.
Mysterious Mammals: What makes a animal a mammal? Join us as we meet and go out in search of these furry friends.
Crawling Critters:
It is spring and time for insects to come out and play. So join us as we
find the critters who creep, crawl, squirm, and wiggle.
Bats and Beyond: These natural bug zappers eat 500 to 1,000 insect per hour. How do they find their food in the dark? Why are they called “hand-wings”? And more!
Freshwater Fun: What kinds of creatures can be found in a pond? How can they live under water? Find out through an hour of underwater exploration.

Register:
Complete a registration form and mail it to the nature center with the registration fee.
Programs are for registrants only; Pre-K parents may stay, but no siblings.
Children MUST BE SIGNED IN and out at the building
Children MUST be in the APPROPRIATE AGE GROUPS, no exceptions!
Students MUST dress for the weather! Unless it's raining or very windy, we go outside.
The day a specific class is given may change due to weather conditions.
Students should where old clothes and sturdy shoes (no open toes or heals).
Autumn Sessions are usually held
in October/November.
Winter Sessions are usually held in January/February.
Spring Sessions are usually held in April/May.
Nature Day Camp is held in
June-August.
Camp Abrakadoodle returns this summer.
Dinosaur, Fossil & Mineral Camp returns in June.
